BUT, a good story doesn’t shy away from portraying reality as hard and awful as it can be too. The best stories show real struggles but realistic triumph over the hardships. Perhaps even only being one small win. We want to tell stories that are safe and fun, truly escapist where you don’t need to think because you know you’ll walk away saying, “That was a good story.” with a goofy grin on your face.
Life is hard. You don’t have time to read stories that don’t make life better. So don’t.
